About the event

Artificial intelligence makes use of algorithms that analyze vast amounts of data to recognize patterns. Concurrently with an increased accessibility of data, the use of artificial intelligence has become vastly more widespread throughout the past decade.

On one hand, the use of artificial intelligence holds an enormous potential for liberal democracies because the ability of artificial intelligence to process data, identify problems and make predictions greatly exceeds the abilities of human intelligence.

On the other hand, the use of artificial intelligence entails a risk factor for liberal democracies since it may compromise the principles of which liberal democracies rest. For example, the use of artificial intelligence may lead to biases and discrimination.

Join us when professor in political science, Kees van Kersbergen from Aarhus University will shed some light on whether artificial intelligence is a friend or a foe of liberal democracies.
